NEW IN 2022!

Thank you to everyone who participated in or visited Artsville Amesbury 2022. Until next time!
This is a juried craft show organized by the Amesbury Cultural Council in partnership with the Firehouse Center for the Arts and the Newburyport Cultural Council. This is an excellent opportunity for local artisans + craftspeople to showcase and sell their work in vibrant and historical downtown Amesbury, Massachusetts.
What is an artist shanty?
On loan from the Firehouse Center for the Arts in Newburyport, MA, these artist shanties are five pastel-hued sheds, featuring double barn doors and plenty of display space inside for artists' wares. All five shanties will be installed in the green space surrounding the gazebo adjacent to the Amesbury Public Library at 149 Main Street. Easily accessible and highly visible, the shanties will form a lively village of local artisans, open to the public from 11am–4pm, Thursday–Sunday, June 23–July 24. Occasional live music will be provided by visiting musicians in the gazebo (when available).
There are four 6'x8' shanties and one 8'x12' shanty available for weekly rentals.
This program was initially a collaboration between the Firehouse Center for the Arts, the City of Newburyport, and BLB Design/Build. The initial project was funded through the Creative County Initiative, a partnership between the Essex County Community Foundation and the Barr Foundation. Images below depict artisans from the 2019 season of the Newburyport Arts and Culture Shanties Project.

The Amesbury Cultural Council is seeking unique, high quality, handmade items from local artisans of all mediums. Artisans may share their shanty with other vendors, may use the shanties as work/commerce spaces, and may rent their shanty for multiple weeks. Artisans with previous market experience are preferred.
